
Fiona (Fío) Avocado (they/them, born 1989) is a queer and feminist artist, educator, and collaborator born and raised in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The works Fío creates incorporate printmaking, digital and analog illustration, comics, zine making, and assembling textile pieces from upcycled materials. Fío is passionate about connecting with people, sharing personal and collective narratives through art, and imagining and creating a better, more just world. Fío is also the organizer of the Itty Bitty Print Exchange, an international print exchange established in 2020. Fío received their MFA in Printmaking from Ohio University in 2022. They live and work in Pittsburgh PA, USA and are part of Lavender Estero Studio. Recently they concluded a Fulbright Study/Research Award in La Plata, Argentina, where they researched transfeminist social movements and collaborative visual narrative making as archive.
